Middlesex Lounge (restaurant review)

315 Mass Ave, Cambridge, Massachusetts (Central Square)

Another minimalist, modern loungey space in Boston? Right on. Great drinks, rolling, reconfigurable couches & tables, and a fun menu make this a good place to go for food, drinks, and hanging out. The food is designed for sharing (think a rockin' little hamburger cut into chunks with skewers) and munching (a yummy cheese plate) and we ordered one or more of everything on the short menu last time we were hanging out with a bunch of friends. Bonus points for a low-key, un-Boston crowd, where once in a while strangers actually talk to each other -- something I'm assured is a common practice in drinking establisments throughout the world, but happens so rarely in the Commonwealth.

The staff can be pretty useless at times. The crowd can be too much after 9, especially if you're trying to eat.

[gustav adds: I love the look of this place, as I do Audubon Circle. Flat-cut polished bamboo walls? Yeah!]
